“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
– Martin Luther King Jr.

In honor of black history month, and one of American black history’s most prolific personages, Rev. King, I’ve placed the above quote to finish my 90-Day challenge strong where my results have come up short.
I weighed in this morning at 239lbs. Well short of my goal of 222lbs. You may be asking yourself, “Wookie, what went wrong?” In short, everything. This past 4 weeks has thrown all but the kitchen sink at my goals of weight loss & health.
My car has broken down not once but twice, costing me a pretty penny & the ability to travel to & from work efficiently. I’m forced, at this time, to travel to & from work via public bus system. Couple that with –7 degree temperatures & 20 below wind-chill and it’s very difficult to find the time & energy to maintain such an undertaking.
Not to mention I’m forced to wake at 6am now every morning, not to work out, but simply to get to & from work.
I’m not making excuses folks, we all have boundaries we’re willing to cross, others we wish to maintain for one reason or another. If I wanted to bad enough I suppose I could’ve found both the time & the drive to get it done. And for one reason or another I chose not too.
I suppose I felt it more important to preserve both physical & mental health by taking it easy. I am, after all, moving into a new home soon in Burnsville, MN. There’s a lot going on in my little microcosm. A lesser man might break under the stress. Yet, a better man might thrive under the circumstances. I can’t say for sure I’m only responsible for myself.
That being said, I am healthier. I still lost weight, 3 lbs since the beginning of my 90-day challenge, and since I began taking Youngevity products almost a year ago at a weight of 258 lbs, I’ve lost a total of 19lbs. Not bad actually. Let us not forget either that the 20 lbs in 90 days challenge was a lark. It was something to write about in the greater scheme of things. The fact of the matter, as I’ve pointed out in the beginning is that I’m pursuing a life-style change. This isn’t about losing any amount of weight in any set period of time.
The journey is the destination. This April 1st, 2013, I will celebrate one whole year off of cigarettes. It will mark the date that I decided I was sick & tired of being sick & tired. I thank you for participating in this journey on some small level & wish you all the success in the world in accomplishing your own goals. Heck! This may be the best-darned article I’ve written of the whole series!
