During the Republican primary we witnessed twenty debates between those seeking the party’s nomination.
As we rapidly head toward November 6th we are going to be witnessing another series of debates. Debates that will once again show us, just like the twenty we have already witnessed, that the real issues will be glossed over and the only ‘solutions’ being discussed during the debate will be for problems the politicians want to make you care about.
Now that both of the major parties have had their conventions and the establishment seems to be set with their candidates, there is an empty feeling in the political soul of this nation. The people are getting fed up with Democrats that promise one thing and then do another and Republicans who promise one thing and then don’t seem to do anything at all. While it still remains true that these two parties have a choke hold on political discussion in this nation, the breath of freedom is whispering its appeal for an alternative.
After the deplorable actions carried out in front of a national audience by both parties this year, it became obvious to me, that the people and the politicians who truly want to represent the people will be silenced in a manipulative process where freedom is not welcome and the Constitution is little more than a talking point. For goodness sake, it has been exposed that Romney was behind the unforgivable and un-American actions we witnessed in Maine and now in Iowa. Both parties scripted their voting process as caught by television cameras and even the media was covering their sin with stories like “Democrats boo God.” While I am not a fan of the Democrat party and while I do believe there is a God, a mature adult who watched the events would realize that nobody was booing God, they were booing the fact that their party did not want to follow the rules it had established. Nor did they want to hear the voice of the people who made up that party as the vote continued to be ignored from what was supposed to be, a leader of the people.
With all that has taken place thus far in this election cycle, I have decided that I want to do something to aid the voice of the people, even if that voice will fall on deaf ears in Washington. I am proud to announce that The Josh Tolley Show is an honored sponsor of the Free and Equal Presidential Debate in Chicago at the University Club of Chicago on Oct 23rd. I am joined by other great organizations such as Restore the Republic, Ballot Access News, Re-Tea Party, Free the Vote NC, We the People, and Blue Republicans. Together with great candidates like Virgil Goode (Constitution Party), Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party), and Jill Stein (Green Party) and with Barack Obama (Democrat Party) and Mitt Romney (Republican Party) also invited to attend, it is sure to be a debate for the people. The latter two I call upon to finally do what they have been claiming for months; listen to and answer the call of the people by attending this debate.
Whether or not one of the third party candidates goes on to win the Presidency is yet to be seen and quite frankly not really the point of the debate. The debate, at least for me, is twofold. First, to let Washington know that the American people are aware of their pathetic, immature, and dangerous behavior and it will no longer be tolerated. If they refuse to act like the adults we elected, then they and their parties, can be and will be replaced. Second, to let the American people know that while the parties that have destroyed their ability to have true representation still control the landscape, there is a growing and active movement which they can be a part of; a movement which stands on principle before party, the people before the politicians. This movement has no party while at the same time welcomes every party. This movement has differing opinions on a variety of issues, yet realizes if freedom and liberty are lost, there will be no room for any opinions. This movement is you, it is me, as we face exactly what the founding fathers had warned us about when they told us to avoid political parties and to never sacrifice safety (physical or financial) for freedom.
The Josh Tolley Show was proud to break the news of the debate, proud to have one of the candidates commit to the debate live on the show, and proud to encourage you to tune into the debate. Join me on Oct 23rd as the Free and Equal Presidential debate continues to advance the call for a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people!
