Pakistan suspects the CIA may be behind an outbreak of Dengue fever in the country. The Pakistan News Service reports today that the Pakistan Medical Association has called on security agencies to investigate fears of deliberate spread of the deadly disease in the Punjab.

The accusation is not far-fetched. The CIA has a long history of using biological weapons, most notably in Cuba. In Bioterror: Manufacturing Wars the American Way, Ellen Ray and Willam H. Schaap document attacks on the communist nation spanning more than 20 years. The operations were exposed in Newsday on January 9, 1977, and later appeared in the Washington Post, Le Monde, the Guardian, and other newspapers.

According to the authors, the CIA prefers Dengue fever. “Dengue and other arboviruses are ideal as biological warfare weapons for a number of reasons. Dengue, especially hemorrhagic dengue, is highly incapacitating; it can be transmitted easily through the introduction of infected mosquitoes; it will spread rapidly, especially in highly populated and damp areas,” they write.

U.S. conducted biowarfare experiments in America.

In the mid-1970s, the Church Committee published a CIA memorandum listing a large number of deadly toxins stockpiled at Fort Detrick, including anthrax, encephalitis, tuberculosis, lethal snake venom, shellfish toxin, and half a dozen lethal food poisons, “some of which, the committee learned, had been shipped in the early 1960s to Congo and to Cuba in unsuccessful CIA attempts to assassinate Patrice Lumumba and Fidel Castro,” the authors note.

Further Senate investigations revealed that 239 populated areas in the United States had been contaminated with biological agents between 1949 and 1969, including San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Key West, Panama City, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. The U.S. Army has acknowledged that Americans were unwitting guinea pigs in biowarfare experiments.

The PakTribune notes a number of biological attacks against Afghanistan, dating back to 1982 and the CIA’s covert war against the Soviet Union. Britain and the U.S. have been accused of a biological attack on Afghanistan’s poppy fields in an attempt to defeat the Afghani resistance, destroy wheat and fruit trees and blight the opium crop, the news website writes.

Wayne Madsen covers CIA control of opium in Afghanistan. Part 2.

This is likely a cover story. The CIA and Wall Street are linked to the production of opium and heroin in Afghanistan and it seems unlikely they would destroy their own business interests. Beginning in 2000, the Taliban enforced a ban on opium production.

”We are at this moment not sure if it is a fungus or some insect. Spraying has been forbidden in very clear words by the President of Afghanistan. Hence, awaiting the results from our lab tests,” Jean-Luc Lemahieu, the head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Afghanistan, told the PakObserver.

The newspaper points to a CIA-sponsored a fake polio vaccination drive in Abbottabad in early 2011, allegedly to collect a DNA sample of Osama bin Laden.

Pakistan and “The Haqqani Network” : The Latest Orchestrated Threat to America

…And The End of History

Haqqani

Have you ever before heard of the Haqqanis? I didn’t think so. Like Al Qaeda, about which no one had ever heard prior to 9/11, the “Haqqani Network” has popped up in time of need to justify America’s next war–Pakistan.

President Obama’s claim that he had Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden exterminated deflated the threat from that long-serving bogyman. A terror organization that left its leader, unarmed and undefended, a sitting duck for assassination no longer seemed formidable. Time for a new, more threatening, bogyman, the pursuit of which will keep the “war on terror” going.

Now America’s “worst enemy” is the Haqqanis. Moreover, unlike Al Qaeda, which was never tied to a country, the Haqqani Network, according to Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, is a “veritable arm” of the Pakistani government’s intelligence service, ISI. Washington claims that the ISI ordered its Haggani Network to attack the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, on September 13 along with the US military base in Wadak province.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Armed Services committee and one of the main Republican warmongers, declared that “all options are on the table” and gave the Pentagon his assurance that in Congress there was broad bipartisan support for a US military attack on Pakistan.

As Washington has been killing large numbers of Pakistani civilians with drones and has forced the Pakistani army to hunt for Al Qaeda throughout most of Pakistan, producing tens of thousands or more of dislocated Pakistanis in the process, Sen. Graham must have something larger in mind.

The Pakistani government thinks so, too. The Pakistani prime minister,Yousuf Raza Gilani, called his foreign minister home from talks in Washington and ordered an emergency meeting of the government to assess the prospect of an American invasion.

Meanwhile, Washington is rounding up additional reasons to add to the new threat from the Haqqanis to justify making war on Pakistan: Pakistan has nuclear weapons and is unstable and the nukes could fall into the wrong hands; the US can’t win in Afghanistan until it has eliminated sanctuaries in Pakistan; blah-blah.

Washington has been trying to bully Pakistan into launching a military operation against its own people in North Waziristan. Pakistan has good reasons for resisting this demand. Washington’s use of the new “Haqqani threat” as an invasion excuse could be Washington’s way of overcoming Pakistan’s resistance to attacking its North Waziristan provence, or it could be, as some Pakistani political leaders say, and the Pakistani government fears, a “drama” created by Washington to justify a military assault on yet another Muslim country.

Over the years of its servitude as an American puppet, the Pakistan government has brought this on itself. Pakistanis let the US purchase the Pakistan government, train and equip its military, and establish CIA interface with Pakistani intelligence. A government so dependent on Washington could say little when Washington began violating its sovereignty, sending in drones and special forces teams to kill alleged Al Qaeda, but usually women, children, and farmers. Unable to subdue after a decade a small number of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, Washington has placed the blame for its military failure on Pakistan, just as Washington blamed the long drawn-out war on the Iraqi people on Iran’s alleged support for the Iraqi resistance to American occupation.

Some knowledgeable analysts’ about whom you will never hear in the “mainstream media,” say that the US military/security complex and their neoconservative whores are orchestrating World War III before Russia and China can get prepared. As a result of the communist oppression, a signifiant percentage of the Russian population is in the American orbit. These Russians trust Washington more than they trust Putin. The Chinese are too occupied dealing with the perils of rapid economic growth to prepare for war and are far behind the threat.

War, however, is the lifeblood of the profits of the military/security complex, and war is the chosen method of the neoconservatives for achieving their goal of American hegemony.

Pakistan borders China and former constituent parts of the Soviet Union in which the US now has military bases on Russia’s borders. US war upon and occupation of Pakistan is likely to awaken the somnolent Russians and Chinese. As both possess nuclear ICBMs, the outcome of the military/security complex’s greed for profits and the neoconservatives’ greed for empire could be the extinction of life on earth.

The patriots and super-patriots who fall in with the agendas of the military-security complex and the flag-waving neoconservatives are furthering the “end-times” outcome so fervently desired by the rapture evangelicals, who will waft up to heaven while the rest of us die on earth.

This is not President Reagan’s hoped for outcome from ending the cold war.

Fed Target Must be 5% Inflation

The Federal Reserve may engage in what has been mocked by investors as “the twist,” a bond buying program intended to reduce long-term borrowing costs by soaking up long-dated Treasury issues. Of course, no matter the short-term goal, the real goal is to monetize the entirety of the US debt loads.

In 2011, the debt to GDP ratio for the United States will cross the psychologically important ratio of 1:1, meaning that the entirety of economic production in the United States is equal to that of the public debt. For each dollar of economic production, the United States government (not including personal debt) has one dollar in existing debt.

Debt to GDP is one of the few ways for investors to understand the importance of national debt in an economy. It’s also one of the few metrics that allows us to see the efficacy of fiscal stimulus programs, which have thus far provided a negative change in GDP for each new dollar of debt.

However, what is most important is how the United States can reduce its total debt load relative to gross domestic product. The United States and its citizenry could increase their productivity, produce more, and thus reduce the importance of debt. Or, in a more likely case, the United States could print money to replace the debt, essentially inflating away the $14 trillion debt as it currently exists.

Baseline deficits

The US government previously reported that it would sustain some $7 trillion in new budget deficits over the next 10 years to 2021. Those figures have since been revised upward to $9 trillion, or 64% of the current debt load.

In our calculations, we should give the government the benefit of the doubt that the deficit will grow 64% for the next ten years. Using this as a guideline, the US government will have to grow the economy by 5.07% per year for 10 years, or produce inflation equal to 5.07% for 10 years. A combination of both, of course, would keep the debt to GDP ratio in balance.

In the first two quarters of the year, the United States posted nominal growth rates of 3-4%. Inflation was less than 3% at the time. Now, with the dollar losing value, the United States saw CPI-U inflation of 3.7% in August. This should be the new normal.

In order to sustain a relative plateau in the debt to GDP ratio, the Federal Reserve will have to make up for the short-fall. With real growth lagging in at inflation-adjusted readings of .7%-1% in the first half of the year, the Federal Reserve’s new mandate must be a steady inflation rate of at least 4%, otherwise the US government will have a sovereign crisis of its own.

Those of us who invest in alternative investments should realize the profit potential of such policies. The United States is now actively engaged in propping up its own economic vital signs with inflation. Bonds are negative yielding, as are the best dividend stocks. Gold and silver are the only safe havens when the basis for wealth-dollars and cents-are losing money as a result of intentional policy to devalue the dollar.

Obama’s Remarks on GOP Pres. Field, Media Not Impressed Either

Over the past few weeks, President Obama has appeared more vocally combative to Republican’s views and actions; now, along with numerous media sources, Obama is aiming his sights on the GOP presidential field.

On Sunday night, Obama held an event in San Jose, Calif. – one of seven fundraisers over the two-day weekend – where he responded to Thursday night’s GOP debate.

“I mean has anybody been watching the debates lately?” Obama said. “You’ve got a governor whose state is on fire denying climate change.”

“It’s true. You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have healthcare. And booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay.”

“That’s not reflective of who we are… This is a choice about the fundamental direction of our country,” the president said. “2008 was an important direction. 2012 is a more important election.”

The first Republican presidential candidate to respond was Gov. Rick Perry.

Perry’s Spokesperson Ray Sullivan stated in an email to Politico: “It’s outrageous President Obama would use the burning of 1,500 homes, the worst fires in state history, as a political attack. This from a president whose nation is financially suffering and his solution is taking more money away from families by raising taxes on families and small businesses.”

The criticism aimed at the GOP comes at a time when some Republican leaders and supporters are hoping for new additions to boost the presidential field. Names that continue to swirl around the rumor mill is Gov. Chris Christie, Rep. Paul Ryan, former Gov. Sarah Palin, and Gov. Mitch Daniels.

“Each has taken himself out of the race. Each still has time to get in. Most voters are ready to reject Barack Obama. But not necessarily for one of those on the stage Thursday night,” wrote Washington Examiner reporter Michael Barone.

Even NBC’s Saturday Night Live is poking fun at the current crop of GOP presidential nominee hopefuls. Watch the video below for Saturday night’s skit.

The Hill: Perry To Drop Out, Ron Paul To Be Romney’s Rival

Congressman is Republican’s only chance of success against Obama.

The implosion of Rick Perry’s presidential campaign has opened the door for Congressman Ron Paul to move up into second place and go head to head with Mitt Romney – that the prediction from The Hill, one of Washington’s most respected political newspapers.

Fed

Alex Jones explained why the momentum behind Ron Paul’s campaign has him firmly challenging as a top tier candidate on the Sunday show, and it’s a view increasingly being acknowledged by even mainstream political commentators.

Writing for The Hill, Capitol Hill’s most widely circulated newspaper, Brent Budowsky sounds the death knell for Rick Perry’s campaign.

“I wrote in August that Rick Perry will self- destruct within 30 days. His prospects for the presidency were as phony as the fantasy of a two-person race was false. Perry is a phony conservative who is not conservative. He is a pay-for-play politician who gobbled up Obama stimulus like a hound dog eating a bone, and created oceans of new government jobs in Texas while his big donors mysteriously received big government contracts. The Texas deficit ballooned and the Texas jobless rate doubled on Rick Perry’s watch,” writes Budowsky.

“I will not speculate about the reasons for Rick Perry’ s strange, weird and incoherent debate performance. Major new negative stories about Perry will soon emerge in the media. Trust me. Perry will drop out long before the year ends. If he dropped out today Ron Paul could well be in second place. Will pundits say it is a two-man race between Romney and Paul?”

As we have documented, the only thing standing between Paul and Romney is an admitted establishment media strategy to ignore the very existence of the Congressman’s campaign. Now that this hoax is quickly dissolving, Paul is set to be provided with the perfect platform from which to launch an assault on Romney’s lead in the national polls.

An an establishment RINO Republican, someone who has pushed big government policies equally as horrendous as anything Obama ever did, Romney’s chances of defeating the President are negligible. If he wins the Republican candidacy, Romney will only energize the hordes of Obamanoids to re-emerge and return Obama to the White House.

The same goes for Sarah Palin if she ever gets around to throwing her hat in the ring. Even aside from damaging recent revelations about her private life, Obama’s slick talk would absolutely cream Palin in the presidential debates and she would become a nationwide laughing stock overnight.

Polls have shown that while establishment Republicans have all lost popular approval at a similar pace to Obama, Ron Paul already has the numbers to be within striking distance of defeating Obama in a head to head run off – and that’s before he’s even been afforded one half of the national platform the media has bestowed upon Perry and Romney.

Once Ron Paul’s message is allowed to be heard, he will absolutely trounce Obama.

Only Ron Paul offers enough of an alternative to four more years of Obama to give the Republicans a chance of any success in 2012. Only Ron Paul’s solutions for returning America to sound money principles can begin to reverse decades of Republicans and Democrats allowing the nation’s economic base to be disastrously undermined.
