TREASURE ISLAND, FLORIDA – On Friday morning, syndicated radio talk host and Florida Libertarian Partystrong> Chairman Adrian Wyllie challenged Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats to “man up” and give him a ticket for traveling in his personal vehicle without a driver’s license. Wyllie, who had surrendered his driver’s license on May 17 in a Fourth Amendment protest of the Real ID Act, had been trying to bait law enforcement into ticketing him since then.
Though he repeatedly contacted various law enforcement agencies to advise them he was in violation of Florida statutes regarding driver’s licenses, no agency would cite him with a violation.
That is until he berated Sheriff Coats on the air. Wyllie accused the sheriff of lacking the “stones” to enforce the Constitution, and demanded he “man up and pull me over!”
Within four hours, Wyllie was stopped by two deputies and cited for “driving” without a license. According to Wyllie, there were no other citations or accusations of traffic violations or equipment defects. He was pulled over only for the license violation.
