In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journalpoll in which 61% of Americans interviewed considered “things in the nation” to be “on the wrong track,” 66% did “not feel confident that life for our children’s generation will be better than it has been for us.” (Seven percent were “not sure,” and only 27% “felt confident.”) But here was the polling question you’re least likely to see discussed in your local newspaper or by Washington-based pundits: “Do you think America is in a state of decline, or do you feel that this is not the case?” Sixty-five percent of respondents chose as their answer: “in a state of decline.”
Meanwhile, Afghan war commander General David Petraeus wasinterviewedlast week by Martha Raddatz of ABC News. Asked whether the American war in Afghanistan, almost a decade old, was finally on the right counterinsurgency track and could go on for another nine or ten years, Petraeus agreed that we were just at the beginning of the process, that the “clock” was only now ticking, and that we needed “realistic expectations” about what could happen and how fast. “Progress” in Afghanistan, hecommented, was often so slow that it could feel like “watching grass grow or paint dry.”
Now, I’m not a betting man, but I’d head for Vegas tomorrow and put my money down against the general and on Americans generally when it comes to assessing the future. I’d put money on the fact that the United States is indeed “in a state of decline” and I’d make a wager at odds that U.S. troops won’t be in Afghanistan in nine or ten years. And I’d venture to suggest as well that the two bets would be intimately connected, and that the American people understand at a visceral level far more than Washington cares to know about our real situation in the world. And I’d put my money on one more thing: however lousy it may feel, it’s not all bad news, not by a long shot.
Decline Today, Not Tomorrow
Let’s start with Afghanistan. Yes, we’ve been “in,” or intimately involved with, Afghanistan not just for almost a decade, but for a significant chunk of the last 30 years. And for much of that time we’ve poured our wealth into creating chaos and mayhem there in the name of “freedom,” “liberation,” “reconstruction,” and “nation-building.” We started in the distant days of the Reagan administration with the CIA funneling vast sums of money and advanced weaponry into the anti-Soviet jihad. At that time, we happily supported outright terror tactics, including car-bomb and even camel-bomb attacks on the Soviets in Afghan cities and bomb attacks on movie theaters as well. These acts were committed by Islamic fundamentalists of the most extreme sort, and our officials, labeling them “freedom fighters,” couldn’t say enough nice things about them.
That was our expensive first decade in Afghanistan. In 1989, when the Russians withdrew in defeat, we departed in triumph. You know the next round well enough: we returned in 2001, armed and eager, carrying suitcases full of cash, and ready to fight many of the same fundamentalists we (or our allies the Pakistanis) had set loose, funded, and armed in the previous two decades.
If, back in 1979, you had told a polling group of Americans that their country would soon embark on a never-ending war that would involve spending hundreds of billions of dollars, building staggering numbers of military bases, squandering startling sums (including at least $27 billion to train Afghan military and police forces whose most striking trait is desertion), losing significant numbers of American lives (and huge numbers of Afghan ones), and launching the first robot air war in history, and then asked them to pick the likely country, not one in a million would have chosen Afghani-where(?). And yet, today, our leading general (“perhaps the greatest general of his generation”) doesn’t blink at the mention of another 9 or 10 years doing more of the same.
After 30 years, it might almost seem logical. Why not 10 more? The answer is that you have to be the Washington equivalent of blind, deaf, and dumb not to know why not, and Americans aren’t any of those. They know what Washington is in denial about, because they’re living American decline in the flesh, even if Washington isn’t. Not yet anyway. And they know they’re living it not in some distant future, but right now.
It’s easy to become cynical in today’s world, especially for those who follow current events and have a desire to stay informed. Too many people are blind or dulled to both the great evil and goodness in the world. I invite you to take a step back and look at the big picture; notice the beauty that still surrounds us. There is something behind that beauty that is rarely discussed, something that is in our very genetic code and the natural world that we inhabit.

Given the open statements announcing the intent to re-write the genetic code of the planet – and the release of genetically modified organisms into the biosphere – the question naturally arises: Do we really know what we are tampering with? Here is one example: So called “Junk DNA” – the 97% of our human genetic code that has been deemed to be meaningless – has been found to have “features of a language.” Science Magazine reported in 1994,
“Using statistical techniques borrowed from linguistics, [Physicist Eugene Stanley] says he and his colleges… from Harvard Medical School, ‘have shown fairly clearly that the ‘junk’ has all the features of a language.’
They… tried a test developed by information theorist Claude Shannon in the 1950′s to quantify the “redundancy” of any string of characters. Languages are redundant sequences, explains Stanley: You can fill in a typographical error by noting nearby characters. A random sequence, in contrast, has no redundancy. Applied to junk DNA, Shannon’s formula revealed a surprising amount of redundancy – another sign that something was written in these mysterious stretches.”
Yet another astonishing scientific fact comes in the form of a sequence of numbers discovered by an Italian mathematician named Leonardo of Pisa (known as Fibonacci) in 1202. This sequence, known under such names as Phi, the Golden Ratio, the Divine Proportion, etc., is found throughout nature. Fibonacci discovered Phi when studying the breeding of rabbits. The number of pairs of rabbits increased from 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so on. Each new number in the series is the sum of the two before it. The ratio of each pair equals Phi (1.618…)
This proportion of 1.618 can be seen in the architecture of the Parthenon of ancient Greece. Artists and architects have used the Golden Ratio for thousands of years to create visually pleasing works. Beyond this, Phi can also be found throughout nature, including the human body. For example, the human finger is divided into four sections (2,3,5,8), the ratio of which equals the Golden Ratio of 1.618. The human ear is also proportioned according to Phi.
Far above our heads, beyond planet Earth and our solar system, galaxies even follow the Golden Ratio. Hurricanes on earth also exhibit the Golden Ratio, which “…makes the Golden Ratio’s presence all the more remarkable,” because “Hurricanes are structures in the gravitational field of the Earth, while galaxies are self-gravitating objects in space,” writes Robert Roy Britt for Space.com.
One of the most profound discoveries related to the Golden Ratio came early this year. Even at the quantum level, the Golden Ratio of 1.618 has been discovered by researchers at Oxford and Bristol Universities. Professor Alan Tennant, one of the leading scientist involved in the research project remarked that, “Such discoveries are leading physicists to speculate that the quantum, atomic scale world may have its own underlying order.” Science Daily reports,
“By tuning the system and artificially introducing more quantum uncertainty the researchers observed that the chain of atoms acts like a nanoscale guitar string. Dr. Radu Coldea from Oxford University, who is the principal author of the paper and drove the international project from its inception a decade ago until the present, explains: “Here the tension comes from the interaction between spins causing them to magnetically resonate. For these interactions we found a series (scale) of resonant notes: The first two notes show a perfect relationship with each other. Their frequencies (pitch) are in the ratio of 1.618…, which is the golden ratio famous from art and architecture.”
What should we gather from all of this? Perhaps the undiscovered mysteries of the universe far exceed what we do know. Humanity is not a disease as the scientific dictatorship has branded us. Claims that man is a mere animal have provided part of the “moral” justification for crimes against humanity throughout history. Millions of lives were never lived and stories never told as the end result of these mass-murder campaigns. Alexis de Tocqueville, the French historian well known for his momentous work Democracy in America (1835), was appalled by the arrogance of the “materialists” of his day who he regarded as “natural enemies of the people.” Tocqueville wrote,
“…if you encounter among the opinions of a democratic people any of those wicked theories that intimate that everything perishes with the body, you must regard those who profess such theories as natural enemies of the people. There are many things about the materialists that offend me. Their doctrines seem to me pernicious, and their pride revolts me… When they have done enough to their estimation to prove that they are mere brutes, they strut about as proudly as if they had proven they were gods.”
When the Rockefeller Foundation began its central mission to discover the biological workings of man in order to better control him, some members of the scientific community spoke out. Chester Bernard served as president of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1948-1952. He saw what the Foundation and much of the scientific community was attempting to do at the time with eugenics and spoke out against it, but couched his criticism with the assumption of pure motives. Bernard writes in the Rockefeller Foundation’s 1948 Annual Report,
“Inherent in our systematic efforts to promote the welfare of mankind there may be an assumption that… by reason and science we may govern the future of unborn generations in ways that we know are right… Do we mean that because we have learned to navigate the tides we shall also control them? … We have already begun the attempts to regulate local weather. Where do we think we shall stop — with the control of the speed of rotation of the earth, of its revolution around the sun?… Pride goeth before a fall. All our efforts will promote only disaster if they are not done in the humility appropriate to our ignorance, never forgetting that we have not made the earth or the heavens above it.“
Gold has continued its astronomical ascent, reaching a new record-breaking high of $1,300 an ounce today. This is the fourth day of record high gold prices.
Earlier in the week, the precious metal surged after Federal Reserve boss Bernanke said the banksters will provide extra “monetary stimulus” to boost the collapsing economy.
The Fed announced it will manipulate the money supply — i.e., it will crank up the printing machines, known in polite circles as quantitative easing — in a concerted effort to create inflation. The Fed says it is artifically creating inflation in response an unemployment rate that is beginning to rival that of the Great Depression.
Skyrocketing gold prices are “happening for a reason,” writes James Turk, co-author of The Collapse of the Dollar and publisher of the Free Gold Money Report. “The precious metals are sensitive to changes in inflation, both actual as well as future expectations.”
Investors have moved into gold as an alternative to fiat currencies as the global economy continues its engineered collapse. In the second quarter of 2010, all economic indicators were down and gold demand was up 36%.
As Bob Chapman of the International Forecaster notes, over the last 18 months there has been an exodus of funds from the stock market to bonds, gold and silver and commodities. “Why do you think since 1988 our government and those who control our government have suppressed gold and silver prices? Gold is the barometer of fear, the only real currency that owes no one anything. Gold and silver are the antithesis of fiat money. They are the only way to restore order out of chaos,” he writes.
Silver has also reached a new 30-year high. It traded at $21.40 US an ounce, the highest level since the Hunt Brothers attempted to corner the market in the 1980s. Silver has surged 20 per cent in the past month. “Silver has advanced 27 percent this year, outperforming gold, global equities, Treasuries and most industrial metals,” reports Bloomberg.
David Levenstein, a leading expert on investing in precious metals, predicts silver will hit stellar levels over the next year.
“The long awaited break above the former key resistance level of $18.50 gave an extremely positive sign to silver bulls. It gave a clear signal that the price of silver was set to go higher. However, the momentum of the move we have seen in the last few weeks has been more than what I anticipated. The price blew through $19.50 and then $20. It now challenges the $21 level, last seen some 30 months ago. A break through this level would be extremely bullish and I believe we could see prices move towards $30 by the end of 2011,” Levenstein wrote yesterday, before silver reached $21.40 an ounce.

The spectacle of a minority of UN diplomats walking out on a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in which he questioned the official story behind 9/11 was instantaneously seized upon by the establishment media and exploited as a way of demonizing any inquiry into the terror attacks.
The media hyped the event as a massive walkout even though the majority of diplomats remained seated during the speech, and launched a talking point centered around feigned outrage in an effort to characterize skepticism of the 9/11 official story as an extremist, fringe viewpoint held by vulgar people.
Ahmadinejad may be a petty dictator and an odious character who oversees a regime of oppression and disregard for human rights, but he hasn’t invaded and occupied any countries and he hasn’t been involved in the murders of over a million innocent people, unlike a certain Tony Blair, who upon the recent release of his book was lauded by the establishment press and is regularly applauded by UN delegates when he makes speeches in front of diplomats.
Just because Ahmadinejad discusses a certain topic doesn’t instantly discredit the basis of that issue.
In reality, Ahmadinejad afforded equal time to the official U.S. government version of the events and never even specifically embraced any of the explanations put forward.
So-called opponents of big government like the folks over at Red State love to defend the sanctity of the official 9/11 story, despite the fact that 9/11 was used to triple the size of government and set up the covert police state that now targets conservative Americans as domestic terrorists.
No amount of feigned outrage can put the 9/11 truth genie back in the bottle – all the king’s horses and all the king’s men cannot put the official 9/11 story back together again.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad talking about 9/11 doesn’t answer a mountain of other issues that clearly indicate the official story is impossible and that millions of people around the world acknowledge this, and no amount of smear-by association will eliminate the thousands of respected individuals and whistleblowers who have spoken out on the issue.

9/11 COMMISSIONERS
The co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission (Thomas Keane and Lee Hamilton) said that the CIA (and likely the White House) “obstructed our investigation”.
Former U.S. Republican Congressman and senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, and who served six years as the Chairman of the Military Research and Development Subcommittee (Curt Weldon) has shown that the U.S. tracked hijackers before 9/11, is open to hearing information about explosives in the Twin Towers, and is open to the possibility that 9/11 was an inside job
Director of the U.S. “Star Wars” space defense program in both Republican and Democratic administrations, who was a senior air force colonel who flew 101 combat missions (Col. Robert Bowman) stated that 9/11 was an inside job. He also said:
U.S. Army Air Defense Officer and NORAD Tac Director, decorated with the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Soldiers Medal (Capt. Daniel Davis) stated:
President of the U.S. Air Force Accident Investigation Board, who also served as Pentagon Weapons Requirement Officer and as a member of the Pentagon’s Quadrennial Defense Review, and who was awarded Distinguished Flying Crosses for Heroism, four Air Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, and nine Aerial Achievement Medals (Lt. U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, former instructor at the USAF Fighter Weapons School and NATO’s Tactical Leadership Program, with a 20-year Air Force career (Lt. Colonel Guy S. Razer) said the following:
“I am 100% convinced that the attacks of September 11, 2001 were planned, organized, and committed by treasonous perpetrators that have infiltrated the highest levels of our government ….
Those of us in the military took an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”. Just because we have retired does not make that oath invalid, so it is not just our responsibility, it is our duty to expose the real perpetrators of 9/11 and bring them to justice, no matter how hard it is, how long it takes, or how much we have to suffer to do it.
We owe it to those who have gone before us who executed that same oath, and who are doing the same thing in Iraq and Afghanistan right now. Those of us who joined the military and faithfully executed orders that were given us had to trust our leaders. The violation and abuse of that trust is not only heinous, but ultimately the most accurate definition of treason!”
U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, a fighter pilot with over 300 combat missions flown and a 21-year Marine Corps career (Lt. Colonel Shelton F. Lankford) believes that 9/11 was an inside job, and said:
“This isn’t about party, it isn’t about Bush Bashing. It’s about our country, our constitution, and our future. …
Your countrymen have been murdered and the more you delve into it the more it looks as though they were murdered by our government, who used it as an excuse to murder other people thousands of miles away.
If you ridicule others who have sincere doubts and who know factual information that directly contradicts the official report and who want explanations from those who hold the keys to our government, and have motive, means, and opportunity to pull off a 9/11, but you are too lazy or fearful, or … to check into the facts yourself, what does that make you? ….
Are you afraid that you will learn the truth and you can’t handle it? …”
A decorated 20-year CIA veteran, who Pulitzer-Prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh called “perhaps the best on-the-ground field officer in the Middle East”, and whose astounding career formed the script for the Academy Award winning motion picture Syriana (Robert Baer) said that“the evidence points at” 9/11 having had aspects of being an inside job .
The Division Chief of the CIA’s Office of Soviet Affairs, who served as Senior Analyst from 1966 – 1990. He also served as Professor of International Security at the National War College from 1986 – 2004 (Melvin Goodman) said “The final [9/11 Commission] report is ultimately a coverup.”
Professor of History and International Relations, University of Maryland. Former Executive Assistant to the Director of the National Security Agency, former military attache in China, with a 21-year career in U.S. Army Intelligence (Major John M. Newman, PhD, U.S. Army) questions the government’s version of the events of 9/11.
